Baby Grand began in 1998 with a desire to focus on Gerri’s more pop-inspired songs; I’d played bass in her angular pop rock band, Salmonella, for a little while when we first met. Over the next 14 years, Baby Grand morphed with members and styles changing. What started out as a three piece power pop outfit with Tony Cale playing drums, Gerri on vocals, guitar, and songwriting, and me on bass, evolved into a seven piece band that included layered structures and a softer, more orchestrated sound. Baby Grand released several CDs and played live extensively.
